Lifetime Warranty - Engagment Rings & Wedding Bands

Lifetime Warranty - Engagment Rings & Wedding Bands

As long as our ring maintenance requirements are met, we offer a lifetime warranty as a result of our commitment to high standards of all of our engagement rings. We manufacture all of our bridal jewelry by hand, so they are of the highest quality.

With proper maintenance, our products are guaranteed to last a lifetime. When wearing our products please do so with respect to the pieces. Consider the fragility of the jewelry at all times. Additionally, it is important to maintain your jewelry responsibly to prevent scratches, discolorations, dents, fractures, and other signs of wear.

To be eligible for our lifetime warranty, we require each ring to receive proper, once-yearly ring maintenance by sending your ring to us for a check-up. During maintenance, your jewel will be polished and cleaned and we will check all of the features of the ring to make sure everything is in peak condition. We will send you an automatic email notification to remind you when it's time for your regular jewelry maintenance. As long as you fulfill our once-yearly maintenance requirement, we will maintain a lifetime warranty for your ring.

Our lifetime guarantee does not cover any damage due to improper handling or care. Our lifetime guarantee does cover manufacturing defects and damages caused by manufacturing defects.

Upon return of your damaged ring, our team of professionals will assess the specific damage to determine whether your ring broke due to manufacturing defects or improper handling and care. A lost or loose stone will be handled by our gemstone expert to determine the cause. A stone is usually set with small prongs which can bend, show signs of wear, and can lead to a stone falling out. To prevent something like this from happening in the first place, we require all rings to be sent in for routine, yearly ring maintenance. At that time, we will clean and polish your jewel as well as inspect all of the prongs for signs of wear and damage. See “Ring maintenance requirements” above for more information.

If you have any questions about our lifetime warranty, please do not hesitate to contact us at hello@juwels.co. We are more than happy to answer your questions!

Our lifetime warranty does not apply to:

Repairs performed by another goldsmith and/or jeweler other than Juwels & Co.

Heavily damaged jewelry (causing gemstones to fall out, for instance)

Fractures, discoloration, scratches, dents, and other signs of improper care

Scratches, dents, stretched chains, bent bands, or cracked stones. Pieces that have been resized, lost, or stolen are not covered by our warranty

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Yes! Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. Mined diamonds are also real diamonds but are produced unethically and unsustainably. Lab-grown diamonds are real, ethically-sourced, conflict-free, and sustainable.

As the name already suggests, lab-grown diamonds are grown in a laboratory. Thanks to modern technology, humanity is able to produce lab-grown diamonds in the exact same way as mined diamonds: with pressure, heat and lots of carbon.

So much and so little. The stones don't differ – they are chemically, physically, and optically identical. But, the environmental savings of lab-grown diamonds are huge. Mined diamonds require 125 pounds of carbon to create 1 carat. Lab-grown diamonds only require 6 pounds. In total, air emissions for a single carat of mined diamond are 1.5 billion times higher than those of a lab-grown one.

The two most common ways of growing lab-diamonds are: CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) process and HTHP (high temperature, high pressure).

For the CVD process, diamonds are started from a "seed", which gets placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gas. By bonding with the "seed" at high temperatures, the gas forms diamonds atom by atom. HTHP is similar to CVD, with slight differences in method, but it produces diamonds of high fidelity and purity.

Yes, absolutely. Because they are real, pure diamonds with the same chemical and physical properties of mined diamonds.

It varies, but generally, a lab-grown diamond is about 30% less than a mined diamond. Simply because fewer people are involved in managing, shipping, producing, etc. a lab diamond. So the advantage of a lab-grown diamond is price and sustainability. Two extremely important areas that we can cover with just one choice.

Yes, for all our diamonds that are bigger than 0.5 carat. All of our diamonds are certified by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and IGI (International Gemological Institute). Both are well-known organizations that accurately assess a diamond's cut, color, clarity, and carat weight according to strict international standards.

Mined diamonds require 125 pounds of carbon to create 1 carat. Lab-grown diamonds only require 6 pounds. In total, air emissions for a single carat of mined diamond are 1.5 billion times higher than those of a lab-grown one. In addition to being more environmentally friendly, lab-grown diamonds are also more ethical. They are made by people in a lab, without harming humans, re-transferring whole communities, or supporting wars.

Diamonds last more than one lifetime. With the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and physical properties of a mined diamond, lab-grown diamonds also last forever.

An uncut diamond, whether it was created in a lab or mined, consists of pure carbon in a clear and colorless crystal form.

In terms of composition and visual characteristics, Moissanite is quite different from a real diamond, which is what makes it referred to as a diamond simulant. There is a significant difference between the two gems in terms of durability, brilliance, and color.

A cubic zirconia gemstone is a colorless synthetic gemstone made from zirconium dioxide in its cubic crystal form. The cubic zirconia stone is a very inexpensive, synthetic option for jewelry. Unlike diamonds or colored gemstones, cubic zirconia won't hold up well over time.

Carbon-negative diamonds are made in a laboratory like all other lab-grown diamonds. The difference is that our diamonds, thanks to modern technology, grow from carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, not from fossil fuels that are mined from the earth. With this, award-winning technology, we are able to create diamonds for you and offset your carbon footprint.

Engraving

Yes, we offer engraving services for a variety of jewelry items. We can engrave initials, names, dates, and even short messages and symbols. The message needs to be less than 12 characters.

The cost, no matter the item or engraved characters, costs $45

Please note that engraved jewelry is considered personalized and cannot be returned or exchanged. We recommend that you carefully review your engraving instructions before submitting your order.

If you make a mistake on your engraving instructions, please contact us immediately. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to change the engraving once it has been completed.

Jewelry Care

Jewelry Care

You can clean your jewelry at home. With a soft toothbrush, warm, soapy (mild) water, and a soft lint-free cloth. Softly brush the jewelry with the toothbrush while dipping it into soapy water once in a while, then use a lint clean cloth to try the jewelry.

Be aware that some jewelry stores offer ultrasonic or steam cleaning. Those machines can shake stones loose from their mounting or harm the filling of some fracture-filled stones. We offer a complimentary cleaning once a year. Therefore we advise you to connect with us to schedule the cleaning ahead of time.

When wearing our products please do so with respect to the pieces. Consider the fragility of the jewelry at all times. We recommend removing your jewelry before activities could harm the jewelry. Chlorine bleach can pit gold alloys. We advise taking off your jewelry before pool time.

Most gemstones benefit from a soak in warm, soapy water (mild dish soap, no bleach!) for 10-15 minutes, followed by gentle brushing with a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth. But beware! Not all gemstones are created equal.

Steer clear of these enemies of sparkle:

  • Heat & sudden temperature changes: Hot water, steam cleaners, and ultrasonic cleaners can crack sensitive stones.
  • Harsh chemicals: Ammonia, chlorine, bleach, and harsh detergents can etch, discolor, or dull your gems.
  • Abrasive materials: No rough cloths, brushes, or sponges! They'll scratch the surface.
  • Unsuitable ultrasonic cleaners: Avoid those cleaners for our Gems

Gold

Gold

We offer 14K and 18K recycled gold for all of our jewelry.

The carat indicates the gold content of the piece of jewellery and is often given in percentages.  18 carats, for example, correspond to 750 parts.

The number 750 stands for the fineness of a gold alloy, i.e. out of 1000 parts, 750 are pure fine gold and the remaining parts vary depending on the desired colour shade.

The smaller the fineness number (750, 585 etc.), the less gold is effectively contained in the alloy. In Switzerland, the Precious Metals Control specifies which alloys are permissible and how a piece of jewellery must be marked (stamped).

24 carat gold

999 gold = 99.9 % fine gold (too soft for jewellery)

22 carat gold

916 gold = 91.6 % fine gold (too soft for jewellery)

18 carat gold

750 gold = 75 % fine gold and 25 % silver/copper

14 carat gold

585 gold = 58.5 % fine gold and 41.5 % silver/copper

9 carat gold

375 gold = 37.5 % fine gold and 62.5 % silver/copper/zinc/tin

14K gold jewelry is popular for everyday wear due to its durability, however over time it can wear off as gold is naturally soft. This can be prevented by regular cleaning and polishing to keep the jewelry looking its best. Additionally, taking off the jewelry when showering, exercising, and engaging in other activities can help to keep it looking new longer.

Recycled gold is a sustainable option for gold jewelry that is becoming increasingly popular. It is made from gold that has been melted down from existing jewelry and reused in new pieces. This reduces the amount of gold that needs to be mined, which is a more environmentally friendly option than mining for new gold. Recycled gold is of the same quality as new gold and is often more affordable than new gold. It is also a great way to give old jewelry a new life and make something beautiful out of something that would otherwise be discarded.
