  • 3 min read

We are thrilled to share the exhilarating news of Juwels&Co's feature in the esteemed pages of GLAMOUR Magazine. As part of the magazine's empowering "Female-Owned Businesses" series, Julia and Julia, the minds behind Juwels&Co, had the privilege of recounting their remarkable journey as entrepreneurs and close friends.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have followed and supported us along the way. Here's a glimpse of our feature, presented in both German and English for your reading pleasure. You can read the full article here (in German) or read the english translation below:

Thank you again for everyone who follows our journey and supports us.

"Female-owned Businesses: For our new series “ByWomen” (yes, you guessed it, a pun on “Buy Women” and “By Women”) we introduce you to brands founded and run by women

In an ideal world, we would do extensive research every time we bought something—a great pair of boots , a serum from a new skincare brand, nice kitchen gadgets. We would know the company and its values inside out, we would know where each product is made and by whom, and we would feel good about spending our money. Unfortunately, we often fail to live up to this idealistic notion: we're busy, we need something now, we're on a tight budget, we like that cute top that's just been handed to us via an Instagram ad.

For our new initiative ByWomen we have done the research for you. We've looked at hundreds of style, beauty, wellness and interiors businesses over the past few months that are 100 percent owned by women or a group of women. That's why we're excited to launch ByWomen just in time for International Women's Day. Within this initiative we want to showcase the wide range of brands, large and small, that are run by women.

Of course you could now say: "Wait, the GLAMOR team supports women by asking us to go shopping?" In fact, yes. Starting your own business is an incredibly difficult endeavor that deserves our curiosity, respect and support. In the following we will introduce you to fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands that were created by women and show you the founders and their history.

Julia van Arsdale and Julia Malysch are both trained photographers and met each other during their training. The name Juwels & Co. is derived from Jewels to Juwels with u for "Jules", the nickname of the two. "We noticed that we complement each other very well, both professionally and personally, and form a good team - the basic requirement for founding a company. At the same time, we came across the topic of lab-grown diamonds. An alternative to mined diamonds that is chemically, physically and optically identical to traditional diamonds, offering a more sustainable alternative. We were immediately interested in the product because we both believe that luxury does not have to be lived at the expense of nature and society,” say the two Julias.

Most important learning from Julia van Arsdale & Julia Malysch ( Juwels & Co. ):

“Actually, there are two learnings. First: think positively and don't be afraid of change. We asked ourselves, 'What's the worst that can happen?' Rationally speaking, this simply means another change of direction in the CV. There are scarier things in life. Second: Expand skills and don't let them intimidate you. Starting a business means doing a million things you've never done before. As soon as you have a certain visibility, 'consultants' approach you who want to sell their tools. That's why we always question everything first, research the same topic independently of one another, and in the event of discrepancies we consult a third expert that we trust. Only then do we make decisions.”
